Overview

Division General Staff position is one of the most demanding a mechwarrior can hold in the Tribe. Not only the individuals are required to have strong BattleMech piloting skills, but also to have a firm understanding of various logistic, administrative, and tactical principles.

The people chosen for General Staff duty are some of the best and brightest by merit in their mental abilities (concentration, thought processes, etc) in addition to their combat proficiency. The military command identifies individuals within a few months after they enter the Officer training schools and staff NCOs during basic training. While potential General Staff members experience combat, they are kept away from the frontlines so that they can help operations on a wider front.

Division Command company is normally deployed as part of the frontline regiment in a full-scale engagement. However, recent training efforts have focused on independent rapid-fire deployment to further increase Tribe's effectiveness.
Tactics

Although mostly concerned with planning and conducting overall war efforts, Division General Staff does not shy from combat. Its members have seen many battles and are usually deployed as a floating reinforcement company. Results have shown that regiments have benefited from such flexible approach. Most common tactics are using heavy BattleMechs for fierce short range attacks or lighting fast flanking movements designed to confuse and divide the enemy.
