Overview

382nd Royal Dragoons were raised to the front line status following colonel Roadracer's move to a full-time Command Staff duty. Major Tango, as colonel's executive officer in 571st Grenadiers, was given command and the first choice at selecting the personnel for the newly upgraded regiment.

The symbol of 382nd Royal Dragoons is a black eagle positioned to strike, its claws gripping a blue lighting bolt, over an ancient Terran shield. It represents honor, courage and fearsome predatory ability. These are the qualities that mechwarriors must exhibit prior to acceptance into the regimental ranks.

With the upgraded status, 382nd recruiting criteria have been revised. To be accepted, mechwarriors must have served with another independent combat regiment for at least a year. Applicants are subjected to personnel history review and battle skills testing. If they successfully pass both of these examinations, they are assigned to the battalions according to their specialties.

Although currently not at full combat readiness, 382nd has shown skill and courage under fire during the raids on Clan Wolf and Ghost Bear planets.
Tactics

382nd Royal Dragoons are known as a highly mobile and versatile regiment. Mechwarriors are generally cross-trained with primary and secondary certifications in contrasting areas to further enhance flexibility. Each battalion can operate independently with recon and assault elements. However, "Black Eagles" are at their optimum when deployed together as a regiment.

Tactics combine the best from Clan furious fighting and Inner Sphere cunning tactics. Most common deployments are frontal attacks supported by long-range barrage, double flanking, and various feinting maneuvers.

1st Battalion “Storm Rhinos”

True to their name, 1st battalion mechwarriors enjoy breaking the enemy line and causing chaos among the opponents. They are selected from the best close range fighters available in the Tribe and most are specialists in urban combat. Deployed in all BattleMech classes except assault, "Storm Rhinos" rely on their speed and firepower to quickly close the distance and cause damage.

2nd Battalion “Shadow Stalkers”

Named after their preferred method of engagement, 2nd battalion is composed of the finest snipers available in the Tribe. They are often seen in heavy and assault BattleMechs anchoring the attack and suppressing the enemy's advance. "Shadow Stalkers" excel at striking from the distance and disappearing before the enemy can regroup.
