Tor
(Immortal)
Tor, the god of thunder, was the son of Odin and Frigg, the highland goddess. Like his father, he enjoyed his frequent visits to the earthly world. He was on friendly terms with mortals, and an enemy to the giants, although he himself was a giant in every respect. He had superhuman strength, and an appetite of the same size. Tor's red beard, a symbol of lightning, blazed in the wind while he drove into battles in his carriage pulled by the goats 'Tandgniostr' and 'Tandgrisner'. When he was angry he murmured into his beard, and it was horrible to hear that sound and to see his eyes. This is from where thunder was said to come. Tor lived in Bilskirnir castle, a palace featuring five hundred and forty rooms, in the land of Trudvang (Land of Strength) with his wife Siv, gold-haired goddess of crops and fertility, and sons Magne and Mode.. His magic weapons are his hammer, Mjölner (which, boomerang-like, always flew back into his hands) his ax, his iron gloves, and his strength-giving belt Megingjord.
In addition to being the lord of thunder, he also was the god of fertility i.e. fruitful marriages, home, hearth, and fire. His day, Thursday, was a lucky day for getting married, and peasants celebrated it. This corresponds with the beliefs and ritual practices throughout Europe. Similar beliefs can also be found in the Balkan Peninsula. Donar was an early version of Thor among the Germans and the Anglo-Saxons worshiped a thunder god named Thunor. As the god of thunder, Tor enjoyed respectfull worshiping from believers, which can be proven by among other things the surviving names on villages (Thorsvik) and in other words like 'tordön' (The sound of lightning), torsdag (Thursday).
While other members of Aesir drove in their carriages when going to their gatherings, Tor went on foot, so he was capable of crossing the Sky in three steps. In hand-to-hand combat Tor killed the giant Hrungnir, whose head end heart were made of stone. When Hrungnir died he fell onto Tor; despite their strength, none of gods were able to move him, and that was finally done by Magni, Tor’s three-year-old son, who set his father free.
Tor's hammer served the gods as their defense against the ice giants. Tor died of Tjasse’s hand; Tjasse threw his eyes into the Sky, and they stayed there as bright stars.
In war and peace, on land and at sea, Tor was worshipped as the god that helps and brings good luck, and that was why they carved his image in house walls, ship hulls, house doors, chairs. Tor was the god protecting harsh peasants; the way Odin was the god patronizing brave warriors and noble families. It can be supposed that Tor was one of the supreme gods in the older version of the Nordic religion, that his origins are rooted as back as in the old farmers cults from the Bronze Age. Even in the preserved, more modern, Nordic mythology, Tor is only second to Odin, while he used to be worshipped in Iceland and in the whole North more then any other god.
Daniel Hammar
(1674-1737)
Daniel was drafted into the army of king Karl XII of Sweden, He was with him at the Battle of Narva, where they defeated the Russians. The normal routine would have been to finish off the Russians once for all, but King Karl was more concerned with the problems around Sachsen. To defeat Sachsen, Karl conquered Poland because the king of Poland was also the one in charge of Sachsen. After getting revenge on August II of Poland, the Swedes pronounced Stanislaw Leszczynski as new king of Poland because they knew he would not revolt against them.
In 1709 Daniel was with the kings forces again at the battle of Poltava, which became one of the most famous battles in northern Europe. Historians argue that the Swedes could have won this battle. But Because King Karl XII had sustained an injury earlier in the campaign, he was unable to lead his forces during this crucial battle. Without his leadership, his officers ignored his original strategy, and the battle was lost.
Karl managed to take a little unit, including Daniel Hammar in it, and escape to Turkey. While in Turkey, Karl tried to create new conflicts between Turkey and Russia, but nothing serious occurred. Karl stayed in Turkey until 1714 when he fled on a horseback through Europe to Sweden. Daniel returned home to Sweden that same year.

Anton cought pneumonia and when he came back home he got to experience another horror of the war, the Partizans were executing thousands of prizoners and throwing their dead bodies into a cave complex not far from where he lived.
He vowed he'd fight these murdering bastards while lying in his bed, he died soon after that.

When the Soviets launched their massive offensive against the German Army Group Center in June, 1944, Wiking was one of many Divisions that was trapped in numerous pockets that were created as the Soviets rushed Westward towards the Reich.
Wiking was trapped by the Soviet Army in the Cherkassy Pockets, and being the only Panzer unit in that pocket, sprearheaded an attempt to break out. Although the Divisision managed to break out, it lost all it Armor and a great deal of equipment and personnel while doing so.
The Wiking Division was well known not only for being a fierce and bitter fighting unit, but because a great number of its members were not German, but were foreign volunteers from many other Western and Northern European Countries. Through the bondig experience of going through all the horrors of war together Frank made alot of friends from Holland, Denmark, Finland and Sweden, and after the death of his father he moved to Sweden to start a new life there.

Nim Tor
(30??-)
Nim was born on New Avalon and went to the NAIS college of military Tactics, because of an assault and the circumstances after that he failed to graduate from the Officer Candidate School. Dissapointed and angry at what he saw as his failure and at differences within his family, he ran away and signed up with an infantry unit, and fought alonside of Victor Davion against the Jade Falcons. His unit managed to trap and disable a Thor, catching it almost intact. Nim, being the only one qualified to pilot the mech in the unit was given a chance to prove himself in the cockpit of a mech, and indeed, 'his' Thor was what made the difference on a number of battlefields, among all the field commissions he recieved he was also allowed to keep the Thor, with which he had managed to keep his units losses to a minimum. Nim resigned after this and joined a band called the Templars who were bent on hunting down a Jade Falcon unit that had slipped through and were racing through space towards what turned out to be a Castle Brian. But they weren't the first to arrive there. Before the Templars and the Falcons, another unit had landed on the planet and were guarding the Cache: The Minnesota Tribe. After having fought the Falcons with MT, Nim decided that among these people, the legendary 331st RBMD, was where he wanted to make his home.
Nim worked his way up though ranks and eventually became the CO of the 156th Royal Light Horse, "The Viking Warlords", which fit his nordic heritage and his noble Rasalhague Blood.
