- Performance of Duties |
|
- Report
your status: When
assigned a duty to perform, on or off the field of battle,
report your status as frequently as possible to your direct
superior. That includes attendance & absences, and how
you're doing in the game simulation itself. Tell them how
you're doing with certain mechs and weapons systems, be
honest with your deficiencies, and work towards improving
your individual and team skills. If you see a certain battle
is being assigned specific mechs and configurations, inform
your CO what you feel most and least confident using. Do
not let your mouth outrun your ass; your shortcomings will
become obvious in combat if you brag and then cannot back
up false bravado. This also damages the trust between yourself
and your CO.
- Evaluation:
Your superiors will report your successes and failures in
regards to your duty. This information will have a direct
bearing on your future promotions and awards. Not that losing
battles all the time will reduce your grade; we all know
this is a fun online game and we will treat it as
such. However, antics such as continually disregarding orders
and charging enemy assault mechs while piloting an Osiris
will not endear you to your commanders. Doing such things
will damage the trust between yourself and your superiors,
who will start to think they cannot count on you in combat
situations.
- Promotion:
All members of the Minnesota Tribe Officer Corp (LT-JG and
higher), as well as Senior Enlisted Personnel (those holding
a “Senior NCO” billet) may post promotion recommendations
to the Division Promotion Board. After meeting the “Time
in Grade” requirements, promotion will be based on documented
performance.

- Promotions and Advancement |
|
A. Promotion Board makeup
This Board shall consist of the Division Command Staff, and all Regiment
CO’s and Senior NCOs.
- Officer Recommendations:
Officers of LT-SG and above may issue recommendations for personnel
junior to themselves for advancement within Officer ranks. NCOs
are also encouraged to submit their thoughts on Officers to their
Regiment's Staff, particularly leadership ability and the enlisted
personnel's feelings towards them. We do not want to advance Officers
in rank in a combat situation if the troops do not feel comfortable.
- Enlisted Recommendations:
All Tribesmen of the rank of Sergeant may submit Enlisted promotion
recommendations. Officers, and Regiment NCOs are required to check
the time-in-grade status of their enlisted personnel and solicit
recommendations from their subordinates on the suitability of
promoting.
- Recruit Recommendations:
Cadets are assigned a Regiment immediately upon acceptance. The
personnel in the Regiment to which the Cadets are assigned, from
Enlisted to Officer, may all submit recommendations for graduation
to the Command Staff and are encouraged to do so.
B. Promotion Types
Field
Promotions: When a specific billet needs to be filled
ASAP, the Division Commanding Officer may promote outside the normal
requirements for advancement at their discretion. This is only
done when the situation demands it.
Standard

requirements, the following level of competency must be present
before advancement:
- Recruit to Private:
Must demonstrate a basic understanding of Battlemech operations
as well as fundamental knowledge of the Minnesota Tribe and
its Command Structure.
- Private to Corporal:
Must demonstrate a basic understanding of the “Team Tactics”
referenced in the Battlemech Field Manual.
- From Corporal, to
...
To Sergeant:
Must posses an advanced knowledge of “Team Tactics” as
well as fundamental abilities in leadership of junior
Enlisted personnel in combat (2 man teams). |
To Lieutenant (JG):
Must posses an advanced knowledge of “Team Tactics”, as
well as fundamental abilities in leadership of a Battlemech
Lance in combat. Must also demonstrate the desire to
further develop Field Command when obtaining higher Commissioned
ranks. |
- Sergeant and above:
Must posses an ability to direct junior Enlisted personnel throughout
various duties within the Minnesota Tribe.
- Lieutenant (SG)
and above:
Must posses the ability to command increasing sizes of Battlemech
forces, as well as performing various Command duties within
the Minnesota Tribe Command structure.
C. Unit Discipline
Since there have been no serious cases of
out-of-control Tribesmen, I am refraining from putting any concrete
form of review, punishment and dismissal in place. We will simply
use our best judgement.
Do not make me regret this decision.
